Faculty and Staff
"River Valley Waldorf School is committed to hiring and maintaining experienced, Waldorf-trained faculty who are devoted to the well-being and long-term development of the students. As part of its intention to sustain a global perspective, River Valley Waldorf School seeks faculty, students and families from around the world."
So reads the opening of our Mission Statement, and so do we continually strive to fulfill this mission. Our faculty hails from 10 different countries and 4 continents, allowing us to draw upon a diverse pool of cultural traditions and family experiences. In addition, all of our faculty has either completed or is nearing completion of Waldorf teacher training program with generous financial support from our school. Our faculty takes courses every summer in preparation for the coming year and every faculty member has an experienced mentor from another Waldorf school with whom s/he meets several times a year.
Over the years, our faculty has grown to include many part-time specialists as well as over a dozen dedicated full-time teachers. They are united in their passion for teaching young people and the richness this daily experience brings to their lives. As one of our visiting accreditation team members remarked, our school is truly “a utopia for learning,” and this unique environment is an inspiration to both teachers and students.
Our faculty and students are supported by an equally dedicated administrative staff which is responsible for managing the school’s business functions. Unlike many traditional schools which are run by a head of school, River Valley Waldorf School operates as a partnership between faculty, staff and parents (the latter acting through a formalized committee structure) so collaboration is truly the order of the day.
For more information about joining our faculty or staff, please see our Job Postings in our employment section.
